Can HPV be in your system for years and not show up on a pap. I have gential herpes from 2008 but now have HPV. My paps have been great every year until now. I have been with only one person for 4 yrs now. Before I go to him and ask if he has been unfaithful and he has cheated and given me HPV. I would like to know if this could have been in my body since 08 and not shown on a pap until now. Thank you.

Yes, that is how cervical HPV normally works. It can take years after inital infection for the cells on your cervix to change into detectable abnormalities.
