Should I be worried?

I recently met someone and we slept together a few days ago. He later told me he has test positive for herpes (he should have told me BEFORE we had sex) and that he takes anti-virals and has never had an outbreak. We used protection, a latex condom. I called my doctor to see if I should come in for a test and she said I should wait a few weeks because it might not show up yet if I have it. I was just tested a few months ago and was fine - and have not slept with anyone but him since that test. I am freaked out and wish I could take the test now, but is there anyway to tell me what the chances are? He thinks I should be completely fine because he was careful. Also, can you get it from kissing if they have a cold sore? THANK YOU.

Yes, HSV can be passed through kissing (assuming the cold sore is located in the oral cavity).

It is unlikely...but not impossible...regarding the transmission of HSV through intercourse, even intercourse protected by a condom.
