how long can a woman have Chlamydia without knowing? I recently was tested. Haven't got results back yet. I have been with the same person the past decade. 3 years ago I started having breakthrough bleeding. I am on the pill and have been on 3 different ones once I started to have the breakthrough bleeding 3 years ago. Switching to different levels of the pill has not seemed to help the problem.Doctor decided to test for chlamydia before we check for other problems. I have not had any other complications. If I've had Chlamydia for this long shouldn't I have developed PID or had other severe complications?

Not really. Chlamydia is often known as "the silent STD" for its lack of symptoms in many, especially in women. It is possible to be infected with this particular STD for a long time and not be aware of this.
