    Confused about HSV 2

I have unsafe oral sex in early Aug this year. Start to feel itch that day, and sometimes feel painful around the urethral. As the problem/symptoms is not so serious, I think that it will be fine, so haven't visit doctor immediately.

In mid Sept, I want to know what's going on with my problem, so I visit the doctor which is specialist. The first one saying that I am fine, so there is not medicine or checking for me.

Therefore, I find another one in the same week, the doctor saying that I have no obvious symptoms for STD, and advice me to take doxycycline for two weeks. And for safety reason, suggest me to have a completed testing for STD. I am completely fine after taking the doxycycline for two weeks. However, the reports states that HSV 2 is positive, but the figures is unknown.

I guess my symptoms seems not match with HSV 2. Then, I visit another doctor for consultation and request for blood test again. And the reports states that my IGG is just 1.1, which is equivocal.

My question is 1. what is the chance for me to get hsv 2 in this case
    2. should i retest again

Get retested in 3 months with a type specific igg lood test for HSV 1 & 2 and ask the Doc to get the numeric results and post them here so we can help you to see what your status is. Read more about herpes in the info in my signature line below.

I have no test for HSV 1 before. But I am quite sure about i infected by HSV 1 long times ago.

Is it important to have HSV 1 test, as it may affect the result of HSV 2?

    abe648 replied to rubbish's response:
If you get a type specific igg blood test for both you will get the correct results. If you have HSV 1 already then it should give you a positive for HSV 1 and the test will give you the correct result for HSV 2 as well. The reason why I said in tghree months is that if you just gott HSV 2 it takes about 3 nonths for the resilts to be accurate and to show it you do or do not have hSV 2.

    sorry, one more question.
Is it possible to infected HSV 2 from oral sex?

    abe648 replied to rubbish's response:
If you have never had sexual intercourse and only oral sex then you most likely would not have HsV 2. If you have had sexual intercoursse then you should get tested for both HSV 1& 2 as you could have HSV 2 and have no symptoms and still carry the virus and still pass it onto somoen else without knowing it.

You most likely would not have contracted HSV 2 but since you have sexual intercourse then it would be good to get an igg for both hsv 1& 2 so you know your status for both types.
