Nerve pain can be a problem with HSV 2 but I am not sure if should bother you with HSV 1. Worth looking into with your Provider

In the mean time I ordered Acyclovir on line (Canadian Pharamacy) and put myself on 800 mg. 4 times a day, and it has not helped at all. Should I just follow up with Neurologist, and forget the herpes possibility?

Have you ever had a type specific igg blood test for HSV 1 & 2? if not then that would be your first step. If you havve then do follow up as you noted to get to the bottom of this. The Acyclovur at this rate should have put this problem to bed if it was Herpes but your Doc can advise you further.

Yes igg tested twice in 3 months just to be sure, and positive for hsv-1 and negative for hsv2 incidently i had my first cold sore on my lip within the same time frame. I have not had a outbreak to have swabbed in 6 months. Where to go next is my dilema, and is this typical?

This issue youhave does not sound like it realated to Herpes as you have HsV 1 orally and you are negative for HSV 2. So what ever is going on down yonder would not be realated to herpes as your only herpes you know is oral not genital. Follow up with which Doc you had been seeing or seek further specialists that may shed light on your issue. God Bless you to find the answer to your problems.

Abe648 thank you for your kind words! It is so good to talk to someone who is willing to listen. I know it is rare but you can have hsv1 on both locations if you contracted at the same time or autoinnoculated during your first outbreak. I definately had genital irritation a few bumps but no open painful sores down below. It happened twice in 2 month period, and nothing since. However this neuralgia which is very much in the sacrum is constant and started soon after the outbreak in June of 2012. I am wondering if there is anyone on this site that has had the same experience regarding GHSV1

Yes you can have HSV 1 genitally but HsV 1 genitally usually only on average has the first ob and then one more in the first year and then on average one ob every other year. So even if you have HSV 1 genitally you should not experence a lot of ob's issues or feelings like you seem to have.

Also if you do not have a complete ob then I still think that it is something else but only a Doc could answer these issues and I would urge you to follow up with your Doc or a specialist that works with this type of issue. God Bless you as you look for a solotion.

Just had a second round of Sacroiliac Joint steroid injections, and still no relief. that was done by a pain management specialist, and he seems perplexed at what could be causing my paresthesia numbness and pain in the buttocks sacral area.
He wants to try more injections Piriformis muscle, and then spine injections. I have the distinct feeling that it wont matter. This all started at the same time I had tingling redness bumps itching down below. I have looked at photos of outbreaks, and am very sure it's what I had. Just haven't had it happen again. Just this constant sitting pain. Any other herpes sufferers with the same types of symptoms? So afraid I will never be pain free again.

My understanding is that HSV 1 does not give nerve pain but I do not know for sure. Ask your provider this question. I think you have HSV 1 and you are grabbing as straws when it comes to this pain.

After all this time I am still having this dilemma. I am going to get a caudal corticosteroid injection, which is steroids in the sacrum. pretty much where the virus lives. I have been on Valtrex for 3 months with no improvement. My question is will the steroids put the virus in high gear? should I be wary of this? My biggest problem now is perineal (taint) pain

I would ask your provider these questions as the provider is the best person to give you the answer as I have no idea if it is a good idea or not. If you still hope to have children then my question to the provider will this have an effect on the amount of sperm I have as it sounds like you are having this injected directly into you scrotom which is very close to the testicles.

Abe I know you're not a doctor, and all of this seems very rare. but have you or anyone known of anyone with GHSV-1 that has all of this tailbone leg and buttock pain for more than a year with only 2 outbreaks that were very minor in appearance??

abe648 replied to sslovie's response:
I have reviewed all the posts you made and the fact that you had only tingling and redness does not sound like it is herpes. Usually herpes will have blisters that fill with fluid and then burst and drain and heal and from what you descibed that did not happen. If you would like you can search HSV 1 in the search box at the top of this page and see if anyone else has had pain in the areas you descibe. If you find nothing then I think that what is bothering you is not herpes even though you are positive for HSV 1. If you really want to know for sure then google "The Herpes Homepage" and on the front of that page is a list of Doctors who specialize in herpes and you can make an appt with one that is nearr you and get a more definative answer. But from what you describe it doees not sound like herpes. Even though you have HSV 1 it most likely is in the oral area unless you get an ob like I describe above. I pray that you find your answer to what ever is bothering you.
God Bless you.
Let me know what you find out once you have more info.
