Can the test be wrong??
50andconfused posted:
I was having painful urination, discharge along with very painful, raw genital area, thought was ui so tried home treatment but didn't work. Went to Dr. was treated for bacterial infection and tested for wide range of std. All test came back negative but still have symptoms. Went to different Dr. this one was worried about std and treated with antibiotics and ran more std tests. Am scared that have something and have no one to talk to. Can the test be wrong or is it just a lazy Dr?

Both physicians ran tests for STD's. Why do you then assume these might by lazy physicians simply because the test results were negative and you still have symptoms despite antibiotic treatment?

Perhaps your raw genital area is due to a fungal infection (i.e., a "jock itch" type situation). If so, antibiotics would not cure these since antibiotics treat bacterial, not fungal infections. OTC fungal treatments (try the creams, not the sprays which would burn like the dickens) should help IF the rawness is due to a fungal situation.

Are you female, & 50 yrs old? If so, hormonal changes can cause irritation of the vulvar tissue. Take a look at your personal care products/body wash/laundry detergent/lube, etc. & try unscented, gentle products. Using a personal moisturizer daily while the area is healing might help, too.
