    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Transmitting HSV-2
    An_251094 posted:
I am a 28 year old woman who has HSV-2 and also take Valtrex daily. My partner does not have HSV-1 or HSV-2. I would like to know the following:

    1. What are the chances of me transmitting the disease to him through though sex?

    2. What are the chances of me transmitting the disease to him if I perform oral sex on him?

    3. What are the chances of me transmitting the disease to him if he performs oral sex on me?

    Please also include a resource.

    1. It's possible, even if you are on Valtrex. This medication suppresses but does not cure one of this virus.

    2. If your HSV-2 is contained to your genital region, you will not pass it on to him by performing oral sex on him.

    3. Same as number 1.
