    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

I just found out yesterday that I have genital herpes. I have no idea when I contracted it, as I realize you can have the disease and not even know it (I found out from a blood test). I have been seeing a guy for five months, and we rarely use condoms. I know, I know....Anyway, how do I tell him? I feel horrible if I gave it to him. Obviously I had no idea I had it until today. But for all I know, he might have been the one to give it to me. I am so confused and scared. Help!

Why did you get a blood test?

Yes it is possible that he gave it to you or you have had for quite sometime. The best thing is to tell him. Go to the top of this site and put in "Telling a partner Herpes" or something like that until you get some good old posts about how to tell a partner.

He needs to get a type specific IgG blood test for HSv 1 & 2 as well to see what his status is. Get him to ask for a copy of this blood test and post them here so someone can confirm his status for you.

Life can go on and you can live laugh love and be intimate
    still.

Ask any questions you may have.
