was told 3 days ago that I have 'trich'. I am told an only be transmitted thru sexual contact. If that is case, then its impossible cause am NOT sexually active and have not been for several years, as in over 30 years! so, how else could I have possibly got this disease?

only 'test' was had a pap and nothing else..

I'd suggest then that your physician does not know what they are talking about. A Pap test does not screen for any STD; only for changes to cells on the surface of the cervix.

what test should i have had besides a pap? are there specific tests for it?

The most common method is often for the physician to look at a sample of vaginal fluids under a microscope during the exam for the presence of the critters. Lab tests are discussed in the attached article:
