I recently got diagnosed with herpes type 1 and am wondering is it possible to have any other diseases like hiv? Could it be possible to have that too?

Yes, it is possible since having herpes genitally would imply that you have engaged in unprotected sexual intercourse.

The act of engaging in unprotected intercourse would open you up to the risk of other STDS, including the possibility of HIV.

However, simply having herpes is certainly no guarantee that you must also have HIV. It's not the disease that causes HIV but rather the fact of the unprotected sexual contact IF one of your partners was infected with another STD.

I hope this makes sense.

It is also important for those reading this posting that most folks who carry herpes type 1 carry this orally, having picked this up in childhood. They do not have to freak out about HIV regarding this matter.
