    HPV cells mutate?

    The concern is with, out of the 150 varieties of HPV, the roughly 2 dozen associated with different type of cancers. Out of these dozen, two only two (HPV 16 and 18) are responsible for the majority of cancers.


    Testing will typically check not only for presence of HPV but also the variety.


    Many people who have, say, warts on their hands, will have the benign type of HPV.
