    Some questions about yeast infection:
How does one get yeast infection?
What are the symptoms of yeast infection? Are yeast infection symptons very similar to those of herpes?
How would yeast infection be treated? Is Zovirax or Valtrex the drug to take for yeast infection?
Will yeast infection come back after cured?

Is this yeast infection or herpes if there is a red area on the edge of the head and wont go away for a month despite taking Valtrex 500mg twice a day?

well this certainly isn't std related but we can still help you.

everyone has yeast/fungus in their bodies. typically we get "yeast infections" as we call them when there is an overgrowth of yeast to cause us symptoms.

no, herpes antivirals do not help with fungal infections. yes they can come back even after treated properly.

did you have testing done on the red area that you were given valtrex?
Talking about std testing is NORMAL and something we all should be doing EVERY TIME before we have sex with a new partner :)

Confirmed as a H-carrier for many years. Average outbreak 2-3 times a year until last year. Symptoms also different. Previously, it was typical herpes symptom (itching, pain, blister, etc). and returned to normnal after 5-6 days of Zovirax treatment.. However, systoms become redness on the head, no itching or pain. Redness stays for one to three months despite taking Valtrex 500g twice or three times a day. Also this redness usually appears 3 to 4 days after sexual activity (occasionaly without sexual activity).
Therefore not sure whether it is yeast or herpes. Doctor always said it is herpes. Think his decision is based on past record and did not bother to further investigate the case

oh certainly this is not your herpes being an issue. see your provider or a dermatologist for further work up. could be many things besides yeast even going on.
