I just found out that my son's girlfriend was diagnosed with type 1. I would like to know if my family and i are at risk, for instance, if she has a cold sore on her mouth and she has dinner with us. Am i supposed to be worried. I don't mean to come on as being prejudice or any thing of the sort. I support my son and his girlfriend and i will help them out in any way that i can. I just want to know more on this disease. If i was to share, say, like a cigarette with my son, am i at risk? I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling, i'm just a little confused right now.
