    IGM/IGG Testing
    helpinghand2010 posted:
I was just diagnosed with herpes last week. The doctor indicated my IGG test was negative; however, the IGM test came back slightly positive. From what I have been reading the past few days is that the IGM test is not as accurrate as the IGG. I am confused and scared and talked to both partners I have been with in the last three years. Neither of them are experiencing any symptoms. At this point, I do not see any blisters, but I am running a low grade fever. Can anyone help???

the herpes igm test is a flawed test and your provider should not be using it to diagnosed herpes in adults. they need to update their herpes testing info.

best at this point for your current partner to get igg herpes testing to see what their status is. if they are negative, I wouldn't even bother with more testing.

what caused you to get tested?
Talking about std testing is NORMAL and something we all should be doing EVERY TIME before we have sex with a new partner :)
