How to deal with the pain...
averagemom posted:
Hi, I just went to my clinician today who suspects that I have herpes. A culture and blood test were ordered. This would be my first outbreak and the pain is unbearable. How does everyone else cope with the pain. I was prescribed the typical medications but is there anything else I can do until I get a confirmed diagnosis? If both culture and blood test are negative what are the possibilities of it being something else?

the herpes handbook in our resource section has tips for pain. I think there might be a post or two in there too about it.

try soaking in epsom salts in the bathtub.

ice packs to the genitals is also helpful.

dermoplast spray ( the blue can for the genital area not the red can ) is a topical anesthetic that you can spray on which is also helpful.
Talking about std testing is NORMAL and something we all should be doing EVERY TIME before we have sex with a new partner :)
