what testing have you had done so far to diagnose you as having genital herpes? if it was blood testing, can you get a copy of the test results to post here for Terri or I to help you with? that way we can be sure that you were properly tested and see if you need additional confirmatory testing done or not.

no, genital herpes is not transmitted through kissing, only oral herpes is transmitted through kissing.
Talking about std testing is NORMAL and something we all should be doing EVERY TIME before we have sex with a new partner :)

have you ever been tested to know your own status?

does your partner have hsv1 or hsv2 genitally? do they take daily suppressive therapy?

you are not likely to contract genital herpes from heavy petting. since one thing can lead to another though, best to be prepared to protect yourself properly.
