    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? about herpes.
    iddybob posted:
im only 17 yrs old and will be turning 18 in july. i found out i have herpes type 2 two m oths ago. i was very depressed and felt like the most horrible, disgusting person ever. my boyfriend now has it too from me. he got it after having sex for the first time with me when i didnt know i had it, and that was heartbreaking to know i gave it too him. still to this day im not sure who i got it from, ive always been soo paranoid about stds and i constanly got checked since i lost my virginity.
for all the people who have herpes or any std. i dont think anyone should ever let it get to them, it does depress you knowing its life term and how its hard to date an for people to be accepting and understanding about the idea but you are who you are, it doesnt make you any less of a person nor will it ever. there's always someone that will want you and love you. my boyfriend now who now has it from me is my first boyfriend in three years, and even though i gave it too him he sticks by my side and doesn't let that get in the way of who i am.
everyone goes threw something hard to deal with, i thought it was the end of the world for me and didnt want to talk to anyone anymore. but its not the end of anything. i still dont know much about the virus but i hope people who have it too or any other std doesnt let it get to them. it broke my heart knowing i have this at 17yrs old, but things happen, you cant hate yourself or the person you got it from, everyone takes the risk of having sex and having sex without protection. always think twice when you have sex.
reading everyones posts on here and there stories was helpful for me. i know im not the only one out there that felt horrible about this but everyone has helped me realize its just another thing you have to be careful about and live with. so thanks to everyone and there stories.
these discussions are very helpful to many with herpes or other stds.
