    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

I have had terrible hayfever and used a fairly new over the counter drug called Loratadin (costs £1 per packet) and to my astonishment my HSV dried up and stopped itching. I did a controlled experiment and it seems I don't have symptoms when I take the Hayfever remedy.

I did some research and discovered that Loratadin is useful in treating chicken pox and shingles (same family virus) - it works by dampening the H1 receptors down. Try it for a month... I have had years of crap and embarrassment with this virus and even Acyclovir was useless. This is the first time in four years I have been symptom free.
In ASDA and BOOTs it's called Non-Drowsy Hayfever Remedy

Most likely the reason that this helps you is that most drugs for Hay Fever tend to dry the body and cut itching so that the Hay Fever would dry the herpes and and especialy cutt back the itching. I have no knowledge nor am i a medical professional. I just know that things like Benadrayl and Reacton tend to stop the itching. So that is moes likely why the OTC drug that you talk about helps you.. .
