    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Questions:

1.- What does it mean being positive in HSV1? what does the "5.00" means? (how bad is it?)
    2.- Was it sexually transmitted?
    3.- What is the treatment?
4.- Does this affects future relationships?
5.- Should I repeat any of these tests to make sure everything is ok?

    Thank you,
    B

First of all I am not a medical proffesional and will only comment on the HSV redings or lack there of.

ave you had any outbreakd in the gentital area? The 5.00 for HSV 1 neabs that you do have HSV 1.

Secndly call your Doc and aks the to check the blood give n and give you a figure for the HSV 2. Just saying it is negative it not good enough.

I will comment further on the HSV once you can give me the answer about if you have ever had any genital ob and also a figure for the HSV 2.

If it is HSV 1 orally it is not a big deal. If you have had an out break in the genital area and it is HSV 1 that Is not a big deal either. If it si HSV 1 you do not get lot of out breks genitally.

As I said previously I am not a medical professional and can only give you information which i have learned from being on this site from people who have a medical background with knowledge in HSV.

To add to my other reply note that HSV 1 although being posittve if you have it orally it is not a big deal and many many people have HSV 1 oraly. It is very common. By the time you reach age 70 approx 70% or more of the people have HSV 1. If you ever get an outbreak in the genital area then go and be seen somewhere within 48 hours and get the area swabbed/cultured/typed so you know what is going on and if it happes to be herpes then since it is typed it will tell you which type of HSV you have genitally.

The only other thing I can comment on is that to be on the safe side you should get your HIV test done again as the best time to get a good result from this test is have it done at least 90 days after possible exposure.

If you have any questions about HSV then I could help you on that.

    Thank you for your answer.

The HSV 2 result is 0.02

I will have the same tests done in 2.5 months in order to be sure everything is ok.
