I have been in similar situations where maybe I have set the bar too high, acted out of character, or just felt awkward with that uncomfortable silence in the presence of a stranger.

I hate first dates. I always want to give the guy a 2nd chance. I know nerves and shyness can play a part in any first date, no matter how much you talk.

When I get nervous I talk and then I will bring up subjects that I believe strongly in like embetted radio transmitters and then I lose them.

Yeah maybe touch on a few subjects that she finds interesting . You can find this information through dating profiles, and build on it from there.
Engage them in a very casual conversation and always appear interested by looking them in the eye.
There have been moments when perhaps I wasn't all that interested in the topic , but asked questions and was never out of touch in the conversation.
However never be overbearing and dominate the conversation you will come across as arrogant and too much into yourself.
If there is a spark you will know it on the first date.
Engage them in a very casual conversation and always appear interested by looking them in the eye.

Gothic is a person who wears pale makeup and has real dark hair. They either dye it really really black or its natural. They also wear alot of dark clothes, trench coats, boots, etc. Some look quite scary. The best way to see it is if you have a store called Hot Topic, go in there and you will see what I mean.

They do it because it is what they relate to the most, think of it as a way of life kind of thing. Yes adults as well, you have never come across anyone like them? Anyways those dating sites are so boring, and they feel so unhuman. Luca_Brasi my hat is off to you on being able to find some great times.
