Hair Loss

Dr. Evans I am a 57 year old female and I have lost my hair line. I have been to all kinds of doctors and no one can seem to find out what my problem is. For the last couple of months I have been getting big bumps thru out my scalp. Do you or anyone reading this post have any idea what the problem could be? I really would love to get my hair back.
Susan Evans, MD responded:
Your firs step ,as always, is to exclude any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to your hair loss such as thyroid or adrenal .Next would be to determine if there are any potential infectious reasons for your hair loss(Fungal or staph).
Finally ,you should determine if there is anything that you are directly placing,or doing, to your hair that may be contributing to your hair loss( dyes ,perms ,braids etc..)
