Sebaceous Cyst
An_246184 posted:
Female 23: About 2 years ago I started getting painful cystic boils on either side of my anus on the inside of the buttocks. They only appear in that specific vicinity. I am constantly getting new ones. They always grow very large and painful. I take sitz baths and use hot compresses and scrub with gold dial soap. Once they become very large and painful to walk or sit I then try to pop them. (I have had one lanced by a gynecologist in the past). Right now I have 3 of them.

I am thinking of trying zeasorb powder to absorb excess sweat but I am not sure if that will further clog my pores and create more cysts. I also use a bikini trimmer but it gets very close and cuts hair very short. I have stopped using it for about 2 weeks now in case it's causing ingrown hairs.

Dear An,
You should definitely schedule an appointment with your dermatologist, You may need to have a skin culture to determine if you are a staph bacteria carrier. In addition, this may be the beginning of a condition called Hidradenitis suppurtiva.

In the meantime, keep doing the warm compresses, but please do not squeeze or scrub at the lesions. This can lead to scarring and deeper infection.

Also, you can try an over the counter benzoyl peroxide wash. Here is a little more info about benzoyl peroxide:

I hope that helps
