Black mark on face from salicylic acid.
    Jellopy posted:
    Hello everyone,

About 2 months ago, I had a mark on my face I wanted to take care of so I decided to try using salicylic acid 20%. I followed all the directions carefully and removed it with cool water.

The next day, I woke up, and there was a scab-like mark on my face. It healed about a week later, but left this small, clear dark mark on my face...

Now, to be honest, I'm not sure if this mark is related to the salicylic acid, or if I may of had this dark mark from before and never noticed it, since its pretty small and probably only noticeable by me.

Anyway, it worries me, and I'm wondering if this kind of thing is a common case with salicylic acid 20%? And about how long usually does it take to clear up? Thank you so much!!

    Hi Jellopy -

I am sorry to hear you experienced this. If this does not fade please see your dermatologist to have it evaluated.

Is the new mark where the original mark was? Do you know what caused the original mark?

In a search for salicylic acid I found this information which lists changes in skin color as an allergic reaction. This article, Skin Lightening Products, discusses different products and risks.

Let us know if this is helpful,
