    Constantly itchy skin and scalp
    pommesgirl posted:
I'm in the process of making an appointment with a dermatologist, but would like some advice in the mean time. Both psoriasis and eczema run in my family. Due to my skin being red, dry, and itchy, I use non-soap cleansers to wash my body and face. I constantly get bumps that are like pimples on my scalp. Shampoos that have tea tree oil seem to help. Other than using cleansers and shampoos that aren't harsh, is there anything else I should be doing? I will use lotions to stay moisturized as well, but everything seems to last for only a few hours. Thanks for your time.

I heard that being in the sun and exposed to the ofher elements can worsen the condition. Have you tried Eucerin Cream? It's a concentrated cream lotion. Have you tried googling either skin condition-try the webmd search button at the top of the page.
    Good Luck!

If you have a RiteAid in your area (or maybe a CVS) (both are drug stores), I recommend the RiteAid brand of an ointment called RENEWAL. If you don't have one of those, then I recommend coconut oil from a Health Food store. (Or have both worked on my very dry hands and legs. I am constantly washing my hands during the day,i dont use these because they are greasy,so it is a waste for me to use them on my hands during the day. If I'm going out and I know ahead of time I'm going out, then I will take the time and use them and hope I don't have to wash my hands. Otherwise, if I don't have notice ahead of time, I use whatever I can find and hope no one wants to shake my hand! For my scalp, a dermatologist thought I should use baby oil once in a while, leave in for 10 minutes then wash out. I can't remember if it helped because I don't do it anymore. Sorry. A website that teaches you how to make your own products is lastly, drink plenty of water. Good luck! Dry skin is not fun!
