    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    Discoloration/Darkening of Skin Around Navel

I am a 47 year old woman, not pregnant, and no belly button piercing. I noticed last week that abruptly there is a darkening or discoloration of my skin around my navel. It is in a random shape. I have only exposed my stomach once or twice for a short time to the sun this spring, approximately 10 minutes at a time. My stomach usually tans evenly and this darker area showed up several days after the last exposure. What could be causing this?

There might not be a definite reason for this,it maybe just because of aging, however you must consult this with a doctor before doing anything. One more thing which you can do is find a natural solution for this strange thing as there are no side effects for it.
