I have had fillers once and I must admit they have soften my creases. I loved the results.I would certainly have more even though they are expensive. Key is a good practitioner to undertake the procedure. Vain? Mid life crisis? No I am having a mid life celebration!
Cheers.

I just turned 50 and decided to treat myself to it as a present . It was my first time. I just loved the results! It really plumped up the area around my nose to mouth/chin. I feel a little younger! A very good dermatologist did it for me. He used Juvederm which is supposed to last at least a year. So I will see how it goes and possibly have it done once again.
I'm a youthful, in shape 50 and just needed a little help!

Just how expensive are they? And what about the people you hear/read about with lumpy results or filler that migrates to a different area?

How are they applied, procedures and all, do you have pictures? What chemical reactions are involved?

I think it depends on the person. If you really NEED to hide everything and it is within your budget, it is worth it. But I think for your budgets sake, you should learn to live with a little bit of imperfection.

I had my nasolabial folds (the creases that go from your nose down to your mouth) , some small creases around my mouth/chin area and bad acne scars around that same area. I also had a small crease between my eyes in which the doc used Botox. All together this cost $1400.
I did not have any problems with filler migrating. I may have seen a small lump or two the first few days but that quickly faded. Just an fyi but how this is all done. It is done by a fine needle injection but many of them. Many more than I realized. I had no problem with this except for a few of the injections did turn a little blue/dark red but they are very small and makeup covers it and they quickly went away in about 2 days. They can also bleed a bit when he does it. Mine did because I am a "bleeder" in general. To me it was well worth it for the results. The best advice is get a very good doctor. Mine is a highly credible, up to date, caring one. My son and I have been going to him for a few years due to acne issues. He is a dermatologist. I definietely would go this route over a Medi spa, etc. Wishing you the best!

Update: After reading I noticed I did not say that what was used was Juvederm. Botox was only for the area between my eyes. Sorry!

I agree it's a personal choice. Many people do not need to hide everything. They could even have acne scars that are deep and this would help. Personally I don't need perfection and do live with imperfections. One should not be labled vain or otherwise for doing this. A labeler doesn't always know all the circumstances so should keep some comments to themselves.
Also a person should only do anything that is within their budget.

After having a Lifestyle Lift that lasted 4 painful hours, left me with scars I was told wouldn't be there, and didn't give me the results I asked for, the doctor told me I could come to his office at another location and have the procedure done you are discussing. I already spent $7000 and he wanted me to spend more on something I already know won't last!! No thank you. I'll wait for something more permanent, and even then think twice. I'm becoming very skeptical about any kind of plastic surgeries or procedures.

Definitely need to weight the benefits vs the cost before buying. But of course to each his/her own.
