Susan Evans, MD responded:
Dear ViciouzBarbie,

You're wise to be concerned about a possible infection from someone's saliva as many infections are passed this way, such as colds and other viral infections.

The presence of a bump may or may not be related. If you think there is a bump, you may wish to have it evaluated by your doctor or by an ENT to see if it is something that you need to take care of.

Best,

Dr. Evans
