Spouse has shingles, should I get vaccinated?

Hopefully someone can share some information/experiences. (Or just fill out the poll.)

My spouse and I are both 43. He was diagnosed with shingles yesterday (about 36 hours after first symptoms - Thanks WebMd!) and has started anti-virals. His doctor only asked if I'd had chicken pox (Yes). But now every time I feel an itch, I get a bit nervous.

Everything I've read so far states the vacc. is appropriate for people 50+ years old. Is there any point in my getting the shot? Will any responsible clinician GIVE me the shot?

Thanks!
