Post-Vasectomy Itchy, Flaky, and Dry Skin

I had a vasectomy on Friday, today is Monday. I have been horizontal Friday, Saturday, and most of Sunday to prevent swelling. Today there is a small bit of swelling above the right testicle and bruising is clearly evident. I have been bathing each day, careful not to get the operated area wet or soapy. I now understand what the term 'blue-balled' means as there areas that are bruised, more on the right than left.

If you are curious, I am right handed... the urologist did ask me this while performing the vasectomy.

The last two days I've been itchy and can see dead flaky skin on my scrotum. I have recently used a wet washcloth to remove the flakes, clean the area, etc.

I just want to know if this is something to be concerned about or if this is just the result of the serum used to cleanse the area before being operated, etc. on Friday.

Also, since there is a little swelling, should I stay home another day to stay horizontal or should I be OK to return to work tomorrow?

The best person to address your concerns is the urologist who performed your surgery. Please give their office a call and I am sure they can quickly answer your questions.
