Red bumps - Help!

kaiiitlyn posted:
Okay so where do I begin, I just got back from the Sanibel beach from a week long vacation. I noticed that I'm starting to get all these little red bumps on my stomach, back, sides, and top of my arms. Something similar happened last summer as well after being in the sun for too long and have gotten sun burnt. It practically ruined my whole summer last year because I couldn't get rid of it. I went to the doctor and they told me it was folliculitus, however none of the medication worked. Any other possibilities and/or solutions?

I believe there has been red tide in that area. A friend of ours recently returned from Bunche Beach near Sanibel and she also a reaction to the bacteria from the red tide. Hope that helps your doctor find the correct treatment for you.

Hi kaiiitlyn and gltcres -

Sorry to hear about these bumps. I hope despite of this you were able to enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches and fun while on vacation.

Here is a link for red tide blooms in Florida, you can change the dates to see if levels were higher when you were there.

Something else to talk about with your doctor is sea lice .

Hoping you find answers soon so you can enjoy your summer and always remember to use sunscreen - no more burns!

Let us know what you find out,
Elizabeth
