I've had a terrible flare up on my hand of dyshidrotic eczema - there is cracking, oozing, even bleeding. it is the worst it has ever been. can i put cream on after washing hands? (i know washing should be limited.) I was thinking of keeping it moisturized with coconut oil or another good moisturizer but not sure if it should go on broken skin. if i decide to do the topical steroid cream - is it ok if that goes on broken skin?

Excellent question Natali3!!

Actually, dermatologists and scientists wondered about this as well.

Scientific studies show that topical steroids applied to the cracks and fissures of skin actually speed up healing!

This is because the open skin is actually the result of all the inflammation due to eczema. The topical steroid clears up the inflammation, thus allowing the skin to repair itself.

I hope that helps

Thank you. That does help! I guess I will give it a try.
