compulsive itchy shoulder

Hello, I am a 30 year old female about to deliver my 3rd son. My right shoulder has been compulsively itchy and stinging for the last week or two. It started in the evening but now happens at anytime. the spot the itches turns very warm an wakes me up at night. It has happened in the past even before I had kids but my last times was right after my 2nd son was born. I am wondering if it is hormonal. Sometimes the sting and itch are so overpowering that I have almost dropped things. It can almost drive me insane! I have found that a cold, wet, washcloth can help. What is going on?
