    Nail fungus
    Sanjan posted:
    1. If I use pills for 3 months, what are the chances to get rid of the nail fungus?

    2. if I use nail lacquer(ciclopirox) for 6 months, what are the chances to get rid of the nail fungus?

    3. does it make sense to surgically remove my nails, and then use the nail lacquer to kill the fungus?

I have nail fungus on all nails for many years.

This may sound odd by my husband uses Vicks mentholated rub on his nails and they're clearing up nicely. The new nail growth looks completely healthy.
    Sanjan replied to Jeune1's response:
Thanks! Did he see a doctor?
    Sanjan replied to Jeune1's response:
Do you know anyone else who used Vicks mentholated rub?
Mohiba K Tareen, MD replied to Sanjan's response:
    Dear Sanjan,

There are many board certified derms who recommend Vicks as a first agent to try for nail fungus. It likely works given its occlusive and anti-fungal properties.

I hope it works for you!

    Please keep us posted!

If after 6 weeks you are not seeing a difference, it may be time to go see your doc.

    I hope that helps:)
