Need help identifying a red spot/blotch on my ankle
    An_249449 posted:
Discovered this red blotch on my ankle this morning, I'm quite certain this is new within the past 1-2 days. It does not blanch (turn white) when pressed upon. It is not scaly, it is not tender, and does not itch. It's essentially discolored red skin, fairly symmetric with soft borders. Photos attached.

Had a recent precautionary STD panel that was all negative and no unprotected sex. Also, it is not raised or papular, so KS lesion is not likely.

I can't remember any specific injuries. New pair of shoes, but no particular discomfort in this region when wearing. I am on day 7 of 10 of a Clarithromycin regiment for a URI.

Something worth getting looked at? Something to monitor?

    Thanks for your help,

    Mohiba K Tareen, MD responded:
Given the purple color and the fact that it is one distinct, new lesion, it may be something called a "fixed drug eruption" secondary to the antibiotic. Have you ever taken Clarithro before?

    I hope that helps
