Last Memorial Day (2012) I went to the beach and got sunburned really bad on my legs, face and chest (pretty much the few places that didn't have enough sunscreen. It's now over a year later and I still have the sunburn in those places, my legs are half white and half brown/reddish, I still have the ring on my chest line and also around my hair line...has anyone ever seen sun burn last this long? Will my skin ever go back to it's normal color? And if I should go to a dr should I go to a generic doctor or a dermatologist? Help i'm tired of being 2 different colors.

It is very atypical for the pigmentation to last so long. Every doctor is different in terms of their degree of expertise w the skin - I have met many primary docs who are excellent. However, a dermatologist would definitely be the specialist that has the most expertise. Have you had blood work or a full physical lately?

    Please keep us posted.
