I need help. I have itchy, red bumps on my left side of my body from my waist to the back of my knee. It is not solid but itch very much. I wake up after 45 minutes of sleep and have to scratch and scratch. Funny thing about this is it is only on my left side. Goes down the crack of my rear on the left only and on my left vulva. I was to the doctor yesterday and he says he does not know what it is. He gave me a cortisone cream and steroids to take for 5 days. Can anyone give me a clue as to what this is? Could it be a peanut allergy? But, one one side? Help.

A contact dermatitis could explain these unilateral bumps as well as an atypical form of shingles. It may be worthwhile to ask your doctor to perform a skin biopsy to help further elucidate what is going on inside the skin.
