    Exciting News for WebMD Members!

We've been busy behind the scenes building new message boards for you. You'll have new and easier ways to find messages, connect with others, and share your stories.

And, this will all be available on your smartphone or other mobile device!

What Do You Need to Do?

The message board you're used to will be closing in the coming weeks. While many of your boards will be making the move to our new home, your posts will not. Want to keep a discussion going? Save posts you want to continue (this includes your member profile story), so that you can re-post them in the new message boards.

Keep an eye here and on your email inbox, we'll be back in touch soon to give you all the information you need!

    gasping for air while awake
    phcphoto posted:
I have been diagnosed with complex sleep apnea. I cannot afford to rent the more specialized machine to use at night but at least I now know what is going on. During the day I seem to forget to breath. Eventually I will gasp for air in the same way as at night. It's not like shortness of breath. If central sleep apnea is a neurological issue is it possible to have the same symptoms while awake that I experience while sleeping? Thanks for all help

    Dear Phcphoto,

That's a really good question about Central Sleep Apnea . Can your sleep specialist or neurologist answer it for you? I would definitely suggest letting your doctor know.

    Best wishes for better sleep,

I have the same problem and would appreciate any comments or suggestions. the wait between doctor visits is usually at least a month, so it becomes very frustrating to have to wait a month or more each time you have a new question.
