Hi Dave,

Welcome to the Sleep Disorders community. I'm sorry to hear about that very unfortunate episode with your doctor's office. I hope you can get them to understand.

According to WebMD, sleepwalking occurs when a person appears to be awake and moving around but is actually asleep. They have no memory of their actions.

I encourage you to talk to your primary care physician about your experiences. If sleepwalking is caused by underlying medical conditions, for example, gastroesophageal reflux, obstructive sleep apnea, seizures, periodic leg movements, or restless legs syndrome, sleepwalking episodes should stop once the underlying medical condition is treated .

Check out those two articles I linked to above. It's a good start to learning more. Let us know if you have any more questions or if you found out anything more.

Best of luck,

~Andie

Dave,

Are you on any sleep meds? Some of them can cause you to do things in your sleep and not remember it afterwords. I took ambien and raided my fridge every night!

I hope this helps!

Hi Dave,

It must be very frightening to worry about your sleep apnea putting you back in ICU. It's definitely something you need to get under control.

I'm glad to hear you have the insurance coverage. That will help. Here's a link to some helpful information on sleep studies that you may like:

You might also ask your doctor about an apnea mouth piece that you would use when sleeping.

Hope you get that study done soon and get some relief! Best of luck!
