Unable to Wake

Pixeequeen posted:
Twice now in the last couple of months I have been unable to wake my husband from a nightmare. No matter what I do or say (touch him, shake him, call his name, splash water on his face), he just won't wake up. I know he's having some kind of nightmare because he's panicking, breathing heavy and lashing out when I try to touch him. Both times this has happened, it's taken me several hours to finally wake him and he's freaking out the whole time. Is this a form of sleep paralysis or something else altogether? Any advice on how to help him stop this from happening? It scares me that I can't get him to wake when he's in obvious terror.

Hi Pixeequeen,

Since this is a new development, please encourage him to discuss this with his doctor and, perhaps, have a sleep study done.

Let us know what they find out. In the meantime, check out this information:
