Can't wake up

Hi, I'm a 19 year old female and lately I've been having trouble waking up from sleeping. I'm exhausted all day and have constant headaches. I get 7 or 8 hours of sleep a night and sometimes more, then I have to take a nap during the day, but when someone comes in and wakes me up I can barely move or talk. When I finally get up I have a pounding headache and just need to go back to sleep. Same thing with an alarm. I never had a problem with waking up before, but I was always tired and had headaches and now it's getting worse. I have no idea why this could be, and I really need some information because it's starting to interfere with my daily life. Please help!

I would visit a neurologist who specializes in sleep disorders.

hey, im a 23 year old female with the same problem. ive always assumed i just needed more sleep than the average person but the more research i do the more i realize there are a lot of people out there with this problem.
i had chronic migraines during my last two years of college, which my neurologist and i finally attributed to severe fatigue after many trial and error treatments. after college the migraines gradually lessened and eventually disappeared, but then i started developing sleeping problems.
for the past year and a half my sleeping problems have gotten considerably worse; namely it is nearly impossible to wake up in the morning. i sleep through 5 alarms and am on the verge of losing my job because i am so late all the time. i live with three roommates and they have mentioned that when i fall asleep i am completely dead to the world. a train could go through my house and i would sleep through it.
i went to a sleep doctor recently and we are looking into narcolepsy. i have to go in for a sleep study and EEG to get a more definitive diagnosis.
go see a neurologist and/or sleep specialist! and hang in there. things will get better.

When I was enduring similar issues, I was looking for anything to help but often neglecting the obvious. I was worried about what I was doing during the day rather than night, I sleep less now but the quality of my sleep is much improved. I couldnt afford a new bed so I decided to get a memory foam topper for it. It may not have been the best memory foam topper money could buy, it was just a cheap mattress topper but I think its symbolic impact but just as important as the physical effects as I demonstrated to myself that I WAS going to master this by making tangible changes to my life.
This is something you have to tackle head on. Its misunderstood by so many people and so many will be unsympathetic. I hope you manage to sort it, step by step.
