I am having a spinal fusion surgery and the doctor told me I needed to quit smoking. I believe I will have to have a blood test. How long will the nicotine stay in my system? How long before I can past this test? HELP!

Hi and welcome,

Please talk to your doctor about this to be sure of how long he wants you off nicotine before the surgery. And take this to mean that you should never go back.

Talk to the doc as well as ways to help you quit. Keep us posted on how things go!
Best of luck and health to you!!
