Although there are studies showing that long term pipe smoking can cause increased risks of the same diseases as cigarette smoking, there is very little data specifically on quitting pipe use. In these circumstances one is probably best to follow the advice for a cigarette smoker consuming a comparable amount of smoke. e.g. if you have been puffing at least 10 times a day then you will probably be helped by the same medicines as for cigarette smoking cessation. But it may be trickier to assess the correct dose, so worth discussing with your doctor.
