    Hi and welcome!

This is absolutely a question for your doctor. Please check in with him about the possibility of playing this season. As the starting quarterback, I'm sure you are eager to get back on the field. I bet your team wants you back too! But please take the proper recovery time to heal so you can avoid future problems.

The good news is that with proper immobilization of the broken bones and good follow-up with a hand specialist, most people with a boxer's fracture have a good prognosis . Some will require physical therapy after the splint is removed because the muscles become weakened from not being used.

On page 4 of this article is information on when follow-up should occur and how to prevent future fractures: Boxers Fracture

Best of luck to you! I hope the rest of your year is injury free!

    Haylen
