Can't Run With Cold Ankles

Two years ago I was running on a cold November morning and had forgotten to warm up before I took off. At one point I stumbled and my right foot rolled too far to the right (as in, it rolled over the side with the pinky toe.) After a few moments it didn't hurt and I was able to put weight on it. After testing it out I foolishly finished my run that day. Ever since then I cannot run on cold ankles without tripping and stumbling and generally a painful experience. Any suggestions as to stretches I could do to help this? I love running so much it would be a real shame to give it up. Thank you.
