I have chronic myofascial pain syndrome. My pain was from my dog yanking me forward (she was tied to my belt loop, duh) two years ago. I have had 5 doctors neurologist, pain medicine doctor, orthopedic surgeon, GP, and integrative medicine (pain specialist) say I have myofascial pain in my left lower back.MRI, hip xrays and bone scan all normal. I have been two four physical therapists. I had sucess on my first injury after 7 months and a cortisone injection I finally got out of pain for a year and a half. The next recurrance was due to a twist in yoga and the pain in the same area came back. I went to a physical therapist (PT) and did well and got out of pain in 6 weeks but was not told to not bend and I did and reinjured. I was down about it and family problems and went to another PT. This PT really injured me and I had another MRI still normal. I got on pain meds and muscles relaxers and was told to not move around too much. So I sat for a month. I was really weak and started walking. I went to another PT and was doing ok but he worked me too fast and I pulled a muscle. Then he tried to do traction to loosen my hip flexors (I think) and it really hurt and he also bruised my ribs. I quit and then I got another big injury at home. I was getting ready to stretch and the got distracted by my husband and I was on my back with knees bend and I let my left leg fall out to the left. I felt a tear though I don't know if there was one. After that injury I couldn't hardly lift my left foot to walk and couldn't get outside or squat in the shower to wash my privy parts, and I still can't cross my left leg over my right properly or well enough to get my left sock off or pull my pants up. Hip Xray was normal. Since then I have stayed away from PT's and have done stretches on my own and walk now 1 hour a day and do 1 medium hill. I was getting set back about every 2-3 weeks by a slight strain until finally these ceased for two months and now I'm getting them again from small things like stretching my leg in my sleep, or lifting a bowl of soup overhead into the microwave etc. I still can bend and am getting accupunture and biofeedback etc. I am back on flexeril but I sitll have pain. Now that you have my history, I need obviously to get back in shape without hurting myself. Any suggestions since I am still sitting too much and can't lift anything but I do wash dishes and try to do small things. I need help to get back in shape.
thanks
