meniscus injury

have got meniscus injury by playing foot ball. but at the time of injury it didnt hurt me severe but pain is there. i didnt cared it . after due course of time i.e, 4 months afterwards i have got pain during walking / climbing steps and standing . and i wen t o doc he told i have lateral cartilage tear . so , after again due to instability again i fell down and got ankle sparain. so , my condition is now pitifull. give me gud advice to treat this meniscus tears.
