I had my stroke 7 months ago & on the left side from the rib cage to my toes the sensation is all mess up. Like u I get in the shower not to know if it is hot or not. I know pressure but that's really all. Can't wait for this to come back. In the meantime my bir toe on the left side is killing me. I cant's cover it with sheets or socks much less a shoe. Any ideas on this I took gout med. for a short time but it did no good.

Hi, My son who is a year old has a Heart condition and he had a Stroke at the age of 6 months. He is now 14 months. The stroke was left sided. My son has gained use out of his right leg again however we struggle to get him to use his right arm. He keeps his hand in a fist and will bat with some things. Today in OT the therapist mentioned how she wonders if he lost sensation in his hand. We were trying to get him to bring a cookie to his mouth using his right hand. He also lost his right Periphrial vision. So when we put the cookie in his hand he didn't realize it was there because he couldn't see it and we are thinking he couldn't feel it either. It was not until we made him look right that he realized it was there and tried to get it in his mouth. I have the same question over all. Will his feeling in his hand ever come back? Is there things we can do to help him with getting it back? It is harder to tell with him because he is not old enough to say yes or no yet.
Thanks
Heather

My stroke was 6/10/2011, two days after I had a knee replacement. I almost died. It took me two weeks to get off a respirator. I then went to rehab and within six weeks I was back at work. My problem is this loss of touch on my left side all up and down my body along with drooling out the left side of my mouth. The wost is trying to open the electric window in the car . I can't feel the buttons. I hate this and no one can give me a straight answer.. One Dr. says it will never get better another says it might. No one every gave me a pill for it or something to make it better. I also need another knee replacement and my Dr. won't do it. Any advice.?
