My 30 year old daughter diagnosed with a TIA

My 30 year old daughter was hopitalized with a TIA 4 weeks ago. She had a CT scan, MRI and ECG while in the hospital. Four weeks later, she still does not have full use of her left arm or leg and her speech is very slow and labored. The neurologist in the hospital was adamant that she did not have a stroke, but a TIA. From everything that I have read, it is my understanding that she should have been back to "normal" within 24-48 hours of the attack. Since being discharged, her family physician has ordered more blood work and another CT scan which we are currently waiting for the results of. My question is, is it possible that she had a stroke that was not picked up by the CT or MRI scan which were done within 48 hours of admission?

I'm sorry to hear of your daughters recent medical issues. I'm a 30 yr old female and I also had a TIA about 5 yrs. ago. I was also told that those symptoms would go away within 48 hrs. but I found myself struggling with them long after. I am happy to say that eventually the symptoms did subside. I can only suggest that she continue taking her medications and going to her doctors and voicing all of her concerns no matter how little the symptoms may be or how often she is told that they will go away. It's best that she keeps them informed and that they document all of her progress. I'm hoping for a speedy recovery for her.

I hope your daughter is doing better. I am a 58 year old male. I had a TIA at age 46. It took me about two years to get over the symptoms. I have been doing fine since then. She will have to have patience and follow the doctor's orders.
