hiccups after the stroke

my dad is diabetic person have lost his speech after the stroke and is not able to move his left hand. He has difficulty in swallowing food and drinking water. Doctors have advice of extensive brain damage with CT scan showing damages on both sides. However, he can hear us and move his head slowly . We have also notice frequent hiccups and its worse in the nights. Doctors have advice us that they can't provide any treatment.
Please let me know what alterntaives are available for his recovering.
