Mild stroke in 23 yr old female

Recently a dear friend of mine experienced the following symptoms: blurred vision in one eye along with being unable to communicate clearly and formulate her thoughts into words. She experienced no physical complications at the time, simply some confusion and difficulty spelling and saying what she thought. These symptoms lasted less than an hour and after tests at the hospital, she experienced a moderate headache. She had blood work done and took a urine sample which indicated a UTI but her CT scan was clean. They originally thought it could be hemiplegic migraines but her family doctor thinks it could have been a mild stroke based on her most recent MRI. She is a non smoker, avid exerciser and experienced no serious health problems for 23 years. She is having another test soon which will look at how dyed or stained liquid is flowing through her brain, not sure what this is called. She is also scheduled to see a neurologist in early December. Do you have any thoughts on this situation or recommendations moving forward? It is much appreciated, thank you.

It sounds like your friend is in good hands and they are doing all the right things. My only addition would be to be sure that they placed her on an anti-platelet agent to prevent a stroke while they are looking for the cause. It may be as simple as one low dose aspirin each day. Good Luck
After your stroke you may be experiencing a new normal, but remember what George Eliot said- It is never too late to be what you might have been. You still can achieve new goals.

Thank you for your response, it is comforting. Would birth control have any effect in causing clots in the blood, leading to a mild stroke? She is currently taking an aspirin a day to thin her blood.
